[4] A Kiss Is Not a Contract

This band from New Zealand "Flight of the Conchords" combines comedy with music. Some of their work involves serious social commentary. In this piece they make a statement, "A kiss is not a contract ...but it's very nice."

It's important to note that there are many levels of involvement in a relationship. A wink or a smile doesn't mean that I want your phone number. A friendly handshake or hug does not mean I can't take my hands off you. ...and a kiss does not mean that we are going to be making love in the next few minutes. Each event can stand on its own as an individual part of getting acquainted.

The interview may end, if the hug is not mutually satisfying, or it may end after the third date or fifth time in bed. My advice is to have hopes, but not expectations at every point in discovering the value of a new friend or prospective life-mate. Savor the moment!
